Even quarterback Deshaun Watson, though he hasn't put together a fully productive four quarters yet, has been good enough when the Browns have needed him. This isn't the first trip around the block for Berry and Monken, of course, and they know that given Watson's injury history, not to mention his overall poor play since arriving in town, they may need to call on another quarterback at a moment's notice.

Watson's poor play and injury history prompt Browns to activate backup QB Gabriel.

Watson remains the Browns' starting quarterback despite injury history and overall poor play since arriving in Cleveland; the source notes he 'hasn't put together a fully productive four quarters yet' but 'has been good enough when the Browns have needed him.' The team's decision to open the practice window for backup Dillon Gabriel suggests the coaching staff is preparing contingency plans given Watson's durability concerns.
