From the article

Sean McVay wasted no time in naming Alex Bachman as the new returner, deep on both kickoffs and punts... the film of the Eagle game left a lot to be desired... he does not have a history as a returner, nor is he known as an open-field runner. His production was only mediocre. It appears a lateral move, at best.

Negative signalRole

Newly named Rams returner lacks returner history and showed poor film in Week 5 debut.

Newly named Rams primary returner (replacing Xavier Smith) after nine seasons in NFL with minimal playing time (24 total games, 27 punt returns, 8 kickoff returns). Bachman's film from Week 5 Eagles game "left a lot to be desired" and source questions whether his installation represents an upgrade. Despite fielding fair amount of kicks for Las Vegas Raiders last year, Bachman lacks history as a returner and is not known as an open-field runner; production was only mediocre. Source assessment: "It appears a lateral move, at best."
