NFL.com News on Cam Ward

Ward's chaotic out-of-structure play reflects dysfunctional Titans offense.

One irrelevant play captured the current state of the Titans' offense in Sunday's latest lopsided loss. In the final two minutes of garbage time, Ward dropped to pass, shuffled left and right to avoid pressure, desperately looked for a safety valve and fired a bullet to running back Tyjae Spears, who had stumbled to the ground after chipping a rusher. Spears, back flat to the turf, caught the lawn dart and was tackled shortly thereafter for a loss of 6 yards. This is the environment in which Ward is operating, which explains why his best plays are the out-of-structure, chaotic throws back across the field.
