Odunze's role as the vertical X-receiver definitely needs a quarterback like Williams to thrive. He is the most susceptible to chaos... I remain bullish on their connection but I could see this being a similar situation to another elite separator, Brandon Aiyuk, when he was the downfield X-receiver for the 2022 and 2023 49ers.

Odunze needs Williams' accuracy to thrive; elite separator in crowded, high-variance role.

Odunze's connection with Caleb Williams should improve his production; Williams is the type of quarterback needed to thrive in Odunze's vertical X-receiver role. The source remains bullish on their connection but notes Odunze is most susceptible to chaos and quarterback inaccuracy. Comparison to Brandon Aiyuk (2022-23 49ers): elite separator in crowded offense with other layup options, Aiyuk cleared 1,300 yards on fewer than 110 targets through efficiency; Odunze needs to clean up mistakes to reach that level.
