Smith's zero-interception start marks historic turnaround after two years leading league in picks.

After leading the league in interceptions for two consecutive years (15 in 2024, 17 in 2025), Geno Smith has thrown zero interceptions through five games in 2026 while posting six touchdowns. He is one of only three quarterbacks this season to start every game with zero interceptions, joining Jared Goff and CJ Stroud. The source notes this represents a masterful job of avoiding throwing into harm's way and compares him favorably to Vinny Testaverde, the only other QB this century to lead the league in interceptions and then have zero picks in his first five games the following year.
