STACKED’s take
Winston's poor performance (14/26, 152 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) vs. Saints led to benching for McCarthy.
Winston started Week 6 against his former Saints team after winning his first two starts as QB1 for the Giants but struggled significantly. He completed 14 of 26 passes for 152 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions, both of which led to quick scoring drives for the Saints. His poor performance prompted head coach John Harbaugh to bench him in the fourth quarter in favor of J.J. McCarthy. Harbaugh left the starting QB decision for Week 7 against Houston open, creating uncertainty about Winston's role going forward. When asked about a possible benching, Winston acknowledged the decision rests with Harbaugh and emphasized his need to execute better.
