The Atlanta Falcons, fresh off a loss against the Chicago Bears, are signing veteran quarterback Andy Dalton... Dalton will open up as the third quarterback on the roster... One would think for Dalton to sign on he'd have to be given a legitimate chance to compete with Tua to back up Penix, and that's my operating assumption until I hear otherwise.

Dalton signs with Falcons as third QB, expected to compete with Tua for backup role.

Signing with the Atlanta Falcons as third quarterback on the roster; source assumes he will compete with Tua Tagovailoa for backup duties behind Michael Penix Jr., though the exact nature of the competition remains unclear. Dalton declined a return to Philadelphia despite a clearer path to playing time there, suggesting he expects a legitimate chance to compete for the QB2 role in Atlanta.
