Winston's lack of run threat allowed Saints' defense to attack run plays more aggressively.

When Winston was in the game at quarterback, Saints' second-level defenders played with much more aggression and certainty, moving to the point of attack almost immediately and crashing downward on running plays, compared to the hesitation and slower play they exhibited with McCarthy at quarterback. This defensive aggressiveness made the Giants' run game less effective with Winston.
