My read is that Cooper Kupp's route was intended to create access for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a concept Seattle has used successfully before. Denver covered both receivers, however, leaving Darnold with limited alternatives.

Kupp's routes are often designed to create space for others rather than as primary targets.

Cooper Kupp was involved in Seattle's two-point conversion play design against Denver, where his route was 'intended to create access for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a concept Seattle has used successfully before.' However, Denver covered both receivers, leaving Darnold with limited alternatives. Kupp also ran a vertical route on a third-down play that 'didn't present much of a deep threat' and was part of a route concept that 'didn't appear to create an obvious advantage.' On another play, Kupp went in motion on third-and-one and 'found himself wide open against man coverage,' though the play was cut off in the transcript.
