Winston benched in favor of McCarthy after starting four games (2-1-1 record). Though Harbaugh praised Winston—"I thought Jameis has done a tremendous job, won us games, played well"—the 32-year-old's immobility made him a poor fit for the Giants' offense, which was built around Jaxson Dart's running ability.
