Yahoo Sports NFL on Brock Purdy

Purdy's top-5 QB success rate and clutch plays kept 49ers competitive despite turnovers.

Purdy finished in the top five among quarterbacks in success rate for Week 7. He made several plays that extended drives, including scrambling for 10 seconds to hit his tight end for a first down on third-and-long, and shoveling to Jordan James for a first down on second-and-long. His throws to Jordan Watkins, especially the end-zone throw, were on the money and described as about as good a throw as you can make. He made contested throws that his pass catchers did not haul in—throws the 49ers have taken for granted because Evans caught them all year. Purdy was a big reason the 49ers were competitive on Sunday despite two interceptions.
