Downs requests trade amid Colts QB instability and pending free agency.

Colts starting slot WR has requested a trade from Indianapolis after the team initiated a fire sale by trading DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson; Downs is a pending free agent at year-end (last year of rookie contract) and appears concerned about QB instability—the Colts are expected to seek an upgrade over incumbent Daniel Jones in 2027, marking the 7th new starting QB in 8 years, making it difficult to build consistent chemistry and rapport as a receiver; playoff suitors such as Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams are expected to be interested in acquiring him to maximize his value and earning power heading into free agency.
