From the episode

When Puka Nakua has been on the field with Kyron Williams since the start of the 2025 season, Williams has seen a targets per route run rate of 14.6%. When he's been off the field, that number does jump to 18.8%... an 8.6% target share that he had last year to an 11.3% target share this year across a three-game sample, that could also just be noisy.

Williams' target share spike may normalize as Nakua returns and matchups regress.

Kyren Williams' target share has risen from 8.6% last year to 11.3% this year across a three-game sample, driven partly by Puka Nakua's absence (targets per route run rate of 18.8% without Nakua vs. 14.6% with him on field). However, JJ Zachariason notes this uptick may be noisy due to favorable matchups (49ers and Broncos rank top-five in adjusted running back target share allowed) and Nakua's expected return. Williams' route share has actually declined slightly from 53% last year to 50% this year, suggesting the Rams may be making a deliberate effort to involve running backs more as pass catchers, but normalization is likely as Nakua returns and matchups regress.
