Despite ESPN's Adam Schefter floating the notion of a Herbert trade, a Chargers source told Schefter the team has never discussed trading Herbert and never will. Even if the Chargers wanted to move on, they'd incur a cap hit of over $50 million in 2027; they'd also need a king's ransom in return from a team able to absorb Herbert's $36 million owed next year and $52 million in 2028. Herbert is 28 years old and in the prime of his career.
