Jayden has made a few high-profile gaffes in situational awareness in recent games, he's the biggest reason the Commanders are in those games to begin with. He's adapted to a new (very different) offense really well and is playing from the pocket and even protecting himself better with his choices. He's showing the passing ability you would want from a QB and is an amazing scrambler to boot.

Jayden Daniels merits contract extension; elite scrambler adapting well despite elbow concerns.

The source believes Jayden Daniels should receive a contract extension and expects the Commanders to sign him long-term. Despite some situational awareness gaffes, Daniels is the primary reason the Commanders remain competitive; he has adapted well to the new offense, is playing effectively from the pocket, protecting himself better with his decisions, and is showing strong passing ability and elite scrambling ability. Primary health concern is his left elbow, which may have ligament damage from a prior dislocation that could require cadaver ligament replacement after the season.
