Penix could log another QB1 outing this week, but it's better to view him as a mid-range QB2. Tampa Bay's pass defense has been rounding into form.

NeutralProjection

Penix is a mid-range QB2 despite recent QB1 outings against Tampa Bay.

Penix is QB18 in fantasy points per game after back-to-back QB1 outings (QB5, QB8), playing far better than Derek Brown anticipated this season. Among 34 qualifying passers, he ranks 7th in yards per attempt, 11th in passing success rate, 17th in catchable target rate, and 16th in hero throw rate. Against Tampa Bay, who has allowed the 10th-fewest yards per attempt, 8th-lowest passing success rate, 2nd-lowest EPA per dropback, and 13th-lowest passing touchdown rate over their last five games, Brown views Penix as more of a mid-range QB2 than a QB1 this week.
