While I believe we should stop measuring J.J. McCarthy for a gold jacket based on five great quarters of play, no QB can look that good without the skills and the brain power.

McCarthy showing elite skills and maturity with Giants after rough Vikings tenure.

McCarthy has demonstrated strong early performance with the Giants, showing the skills and mental processing to play at an elite level. Ed Kelley notes that while McCarthy has coachable faults (ball placement on deep throws, tight coverage decisions), the Giants have not yet seen the maturity concerns that plagued his time in Minnesota. McCarthy has been personable with reporters, greeted teammates, and earned their appreciation, suggesting a better cultural fit than his previous situation.
