if the plan is to have Fernando Mendoza play at any point this year, I'm not trusting Charles Grant to protect Mendoza's blindside.

Rookie Mendoza benefits from Cousins mentorship; needs Miller's protection at left tackle.

Mendoza is the rookie quarterback expected to play at some point this season. Adam Schefter believes it is valuable for Mendoza to have Kirk Cousins as a peer and sounding board when things go wrong during his first handful of starts. Cousins has seen it all in the NFL, and the two have been forming a big brother-little brother type of relationship over the last six months. Adam Schefter also does not trust Charles Grant to protect Mendoza's blindside, which is why Kolton Miller should be retained.
