Positive signalValue

Mason's 5.2 YPC (49ers) and 4.8 YPC (Vikings) match Taylor's recent production at half the cost.

Jordan Mason has quietly been a top-ten back over the past couple of seasons in terms of average yards per carry, averaging 5.2 yards per carry in 2024 with the 49ers and 4.8 with the Vikings last season—which has equaled that of Jonathan Taylor over the past two seasons. While Mason was first an elevated backup with the 49ers and then worked by committee with Aaron Jones last season, he may not draw as much attention as Taylor would but has the advantage of not requiring the Vikings to trade half their draft capital to acquire him. He could also be extended for roughly half of what Taylor's salary cap hit would be in the next couple seasons, making him a more cost-effective alternative.
