Mahomes has lacked a large vertical receiver despite early NFL success.

The source notes that despite Mahomes' early-career success (second quarterback ever to record 5,050 passing yards in a season), he has historically lacked a large vertical receiver; his top receiver was Tyreek Hill, who is shorter than average, and Taequann Thornton is the closest he's had to a true downfield threat.
