Williams defiant on Caddix cleats despite $35,823 in fines; prioritizes injury prevention.
Bears QB Caleb Williams has been fined $35,823 over two weeks by the NFL for wearing unauthorized Caddix brand cleats with visible logos; first offense fine was $11,941, second offense $23,882. Williams stated on Oct. 28 he has no plans to change course, citing health and injury prevention as his rationale: 'I'm focused on my health. I'm focused on being able to be out here for the guys. And if that can give me a small percentage up and it works, then that's what I'm going to do.' He explained the Caddix SmartStuds technology reduces force on tendons and joints during hard plants on turf or grass, and noted 'a bunch of other guys wear them in the league.'
