Black is a rookie backup I've been featuring in this column all season, encouraging managers to stash him away in case of a Christian McCaffrey injury. The veteran did get banged up in their last game in Week 7 before the bye, but was fortunately able to return to the game in the second half. That led to increased usage for Black, who rushed 12 times for 63 yards and a score. It was his highest output since a 15-touch, 70-yard stat line in the opener. McCaffrey downplayed the injury after the game and with the time off, I'd expect him back this week. CMC later confirmed he is dealing with a "mild" hamstring strain.

Black's 12 carries, 63 yards prove readiness; McCaffrey's mild hamstring strain noted.

Black is a rookie backup the source has been featuring all season as a stash in case of Christian McCaffrey injury. In Week 7, Black rushed 12 times for 63 yards and a score (his highest output since a 15-touch, 70-yard stat line in the opener) after McCaffrey got banged up but returned in the second half. McCaffrey later confirmed he is dealing with a mild hamstring strain. The source notes Black is up to the challenge if called upon and suggests stashing a talented No. 2 back behind a 30-year-old starter who handled 450 touches last season isn't the worst idea; Black would provide RB2 fantasy production with RB1 upside if McCaffrey were sidelined.
