I mentioned Irv Smith Jr. having the big yak play in OT. That was great to see. 91 yards on the day. Did lose a fumble earlier, but certainly a nice step in the right direction. Still think it's going to be tough to be replicating that with how much they are mostly designing the shorter stuff for Concepcion.
STACKED’s take
Positive signalUsage
Smith Jr.'s 91-yard game is positive but limited by Conceicao's role.
Smith Jr. posted 91 yards and a big overtime play in Week 7, though he lost a fumble earlier. Ian Hartitz frames this as a nice step forward but tempers expectations given the Texans' design preference for shorter routes to Conceicao. The crowded offense limits Smith Jr.'s ceiling despite the positive game, keeping him as a low-end tight end one.
