STACKED’s take
Johnson's 31-game NFL career includes five starts with Panthers; seeking opportunity after Commanders release.
D.J. Johnson is a LB prospect from the 2023 draft class who scored an 8.32 RAS (414th out of 2465 LBs since 1987). A third-round pick drafted primarily for athleticism rather than college production, the Miami-to-Oregon transfer has played 31 NFL games with five starts (all with the Carolina Panthers), accumulating 677 defensive snaps and 220 special teams snaps. After being waived in-season by the Panthers in 2025, he was picked up by the Washington Commanders' practice squad, signed a reserve/futures deal with Washington, and was released at the 2026 cutdown deadline before briefly rejoining their practice squad. The Packers workout appears to be his first since the Commanders release.
