Yahoo Sports NFL on Caleb Williams
From the article
Just to calm things down. It was a big week and I'm not here to create any B.S. towards the team, I wanna keep that to a minimum from my side.
STACKED’s take
Williams switched to logo-less cleats to avoid fines and media distraction after risking $12k weekly.
Bears QB Caleb Williams led Chicago to a victory over Seattle on Monday while wearing matte black cleats without logos to avoid NFL fines and minimize media distraction. Williams had previously worn Caddix cleats (which he believes reduce ACL and ankle injury risk through quicker stud release and reduced torque) and faced fines nearing $12,000 per week for displaying an unauthorized logo; he was fined $11,941 after both Week 6 and Week 7. Though he initially said he would continue wearing the brand throughout the season despite fines, he compromised by switching to logo-less cleats, stating "Just to calm things down" and "I'm not here to create any B.S. towards the team." Caddix CEO Jack Rasmussen has offered to pay any future fines Williams receives.
