Bleeding Green Nation on Makai Lemon
From the article
Makai Lemon is another young player I'll be watching closely, and I'm gutted he didn't finish this play. I've wanted the Eagles to give him more opportunities vertically, and this route shows why.
STACKED’s take
Lemon showed explosive route-running and hand-fighting; source wants more vertical opportunities for development.
Makai Lemon is a young receiver the source is monitoring closely for development and vertical opportunity expansion. Lemon finished the game with six catches for 57 yards. On one incomplete vertical route, the source praised his explosiveness and hand usage: 'He is explosive at the top of the stem, but his hand usage is the best part. He fights through the cornerback's contact and gets on top of him quickly, creating a legitimate chance downfield.' The source noted Lemon looked back for the ball too early, giving the cornerback time to turn and locate the throw—a detail he can learn from. The source expressed frustration that Lemon didn't finish the play and stated: 'I've wanted the Eagles to give him more opportunities vertically, and this route shows why.' The source views this as a catch Lemon should make as he develops, suggesting upside if given more vertical targets.
