Yahoo Sports NFL on Grant Calcaterra

Calcaterra misused as fullback despite being a receiving tight end; nine catches in two seasons.

The source criticizes the Eagles' misuse of Calcaterra, a receiving tight end who came out of college as a pass-catcher. Across this season and last season, Calcaterra has nine catches for 76 yards. The Eagles kept him while cutting Cameron Latu and EJ Jenkins (better blockers), yet continue using Calcaterra as a fullback where he fails to block anyone. The source argues this is not a serious way to use personnel: if you keep a receiving tight end who offers very little as a blocker, you need a plan to use him as a receiver, not ask him to struggle with blocking assignments.
