In the second half of last season with Klint Kubiak calling plays, Darnold ranked 19th in air yards per attempt, 19th in comp % over expected, and dead last in EPA per play. This decline is not new; he's been figured out. The possibility cannot be discounted that two years of film have exhausted all of the routes that Kevin O'Connell and Klint Kubiak could make Darnold thrive, as with non-elite quarterbacks there are only so many levers you can pull before competent defenses respond.
