McConkey too expensive: 16.8 yards per catch, 2.23 yards per route run; Chargers won't trade.

24-year-old should simply cost too much for the Steelers; unlike Thomas, he's remained productive even as the Chargers are 0-7, averaging 16.8 yards per catch in 2026 and a highly efficient 2.23 yards per route run. For those reasons, Los Angeles would likely prefer to give him a nice contract extension than trade him to the Steelers for anything less than a proverbial mint. The Steelers aren't the franchise that traditionally overpays to get what it wants.
