Yahoo Sports NFL on Ty Simpson

Simpson remains third-string healthy scratch through eight weeks despite strong preseason.

The source reports that through eight weeks, Ty Simpson remains a healthy scratch on game days despite being drafted 13th overall by the Rams to futureproof the quarterback position. He is dressed as the emergency third quarterback behind Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett but cannot step onto the field unless both signal callers ahead of him are unavailable due to injury. Simpson looked poised under pressure and kept the ball out of harm's way during preseason exhibition games, but has not seen game action.
