Niners Nation on Brandon Aiyuk

Aiyuk unlikely to return to 49ers; reserve/left squad list status and $13M debt suggest imminent departure.

Aiyuk was placed on the reserve/left squad list in 2025 and made no attempt to get off it; the source indicates he is unlikely to return to the 49ers despite reinstatement proceedings, with the team seeking $13 million owed and little evidence from Kyle Shanahan suggesting he remains welcome. The source states 'At this point, Daejon Love has a better chance of suiting up in 2026 than Brandon Aiyuk does,' and concludes 'it's almost inevitable on what the ending to this story is'—implying departure from the team.
