I think Jeanty's situation last week was a combination of both. The running game hasn't been working, and while it wasn't/isn't all his fault, Jeanty wasn't making it better. Kubiak had to try something else and see what Washington could do as the feature back. However, I think the dramatic 25-2 split was to send a message to Jeanty and was partially punitive for his stupid 'bulletin board' comments about the Jets' defense. Moving forward, I think it will be closer to a 50-50 workload. If I'm calling the shots and another team was willing to give me, say, a second-round pick for Jeanty on Tuesday, I'd have a hard time turning that down.

Jeanty's workload cut to 25-2 split; source would consider trading for 2nd-rounder.

Ashton Jeanty saw a dramatic 25-2 carry split last week, which the source characterizes as partially punitive for his 'bulletin board' comments about the Jets' defense, though the running game's struggles also played a role. Jeanty wasn't making things better despite the offensive line issues not being entirely his fault. Moving forward, the source expects a closer to 50-50 workload with Mike Washington Jr. As for Jeanty's future in Las Vegas, the source would seriously consider trading him for a second-round pick if offered, though doesn't expect that to happen. Depending on how the next couple of months play out, it could become a big offseason topic.
