Metcalf's 2019-2021 eruption (11.9 to 17.1 PPG) exemplifies breakout pattern

DK Metcalf exemplifies the eruption season archetype: he scored 11.9 PPG in 2019 before erupting to 17.1 PPG in 2021 at age 23. He was a Round 1 NFL Draft pick in his prime years, fitting the pattern of young, high-draft-capital WRs who break out with improved QB play or reduced target competition.
