STACKED’s take
Royals fumbles and struggles with route timing; competing for No. 4 receiver spot.
Second-year receiver Jalen Royals was the most disappointing performer during Wednesday's first full-team practice. He fumbled a few steps after catching a perimeter pass when safety Chamarri Conner punched the ball out, resulting in a turnover. Minutes later, Royals was late turning his head to locate Mahomes' pass on an intermediate route, leading to an incompletion. Coach Andy Reid acknowledged Royals has "a good feel for the game" but emphasized he "just got to keep on with the reps and make sure he's got a good relationship there with Pat and keeps developing that." Royals is competing for the No. 4 receiver role against rookies Cyrus Allen and Nikko Remigio.
