Sarratt set up in one-on-one but never open; Mendoza forced inaccurate back-shoulder.

Against Purdue's man coverage, Elijah Sarratt was set up with a one-on-one matchup that Mendoza clearly liked and wanted to exploit. However, the Purdue cornerback played soft-shoe press coverage instead of jamming at the line, staying in Sarratt's hip throughout the route, meaning the receiver was never open. Mendoza forced a back-shoulder pass to Sarratt that was inaccurate and should have been intercepted, with Sarratt forced to play defense to prevent the turnover.
