Instread of drafting Gronk once they were on the clock, the Broncos traded up with the Ravens to take that pick and draft Tim Tebow. Later, in the second round, the Ravens were prepared to take Gronk once again at #43 overall.

Gronkowski was nearly drafted by the Ravens twice in 2010. He was the Ravens' top option at 25th overall after Dez Bryant was taken, but the Broncos traded up to take that pick and draft Tim Tebow instead. In the second round, the Ravens prepared to take Gronk again at 43rd overall, but the Patriots selected him at 42nd. Possibly the greatest tight end in NFL history, Gronk's dominance as a run blocker and receiving threat would have fit perfectly with the Ravens' offense and Joe Flacco's preference for targeting tight ends. His absence contributed to the Ravens' struggle to field quality receiving options following the 2012 Super Bowl.
