Montgomery has developed a reputation as a 'power back' but is actually far more of a Woody Marks clone; he's at his best following blockers or running laterally and making one decisive cut upfield when a hole opens, not unlike Marks' slashing style. Both can succeed in gap-scheme rushing plays even if it's not their forte, but Houston could still use a third back, potentially a bruiser, to take load off the starters.
