Through two practices, backup quarterbacks Will Howard and Drew Allar have stepped up with big-time throws over the middle and down the field, while Mason Rudolph has not had a 'wow' throw. Rudolph had what would have been a big play down the field to Pat Freiermuth batted down by Asante Samuel Jr. In the backup quarterback battle with Howard, it appears to be 'backup or bust' for Rudolph; Howard was favored more than Rudolph on Day 2 and earned the second two-minute drill reps while Rudolph could only watch.
