From the episode
I more so think that what we saw with him was a come down from a very high volume level that they had in the Super Bowl year where he had, um, well over 340 carries, um, in season...I do like the fact that they added Sean Mannion as the offensive coordinator...from a running back perspective, that coming from Matt LaFleur, who under Josh Jacobs aggressively tilted the Packers offense to relying heavily on the run...we should see a nice bump in volume from Saquon Barkley under Sean Mannion.
STACKED’s take
Positive signalProjection
Saquon's 2024 dip was workload regression, not decline; Mannion's run-heavy scheme should restore volume.
The source believes Saquon's 2024 down season was a comedown from his massive Super Bowl year workload (340+ carries plus postseason), not a sign of decline; expects the Eagles to return to leaning heavily on him as bread-and-butter, especially with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion (from Green Bay) who aggressively tilted the Packers offense to run-heavy under Josh Jacobs, minimizing pass usage and maximizing goal-line opportunities. Source projects a nice volume bump for Saquon under Mannion and views him as very safe from a pure volume perspective.
