STACKED’s take
Harris: Tate close to Jefferson reincarnation, year-one starter.
Bob Harris projects Carnell Tate as close to a Justin Jefferson reincarnation—he may never quite reach Jefferson's heights but will be pretty close. Tate is a smooth route runner with excellent discipline in route storytelling (pacing, footwork, body position, angles, stem work). While criticized for after-catch ability, Harris notes Tate often catches in traffic and is good enough to make the first man miss; he's not a deep threat but catches the middle of the field effectively. Harris pushes back on after-catch criticism, noting it's limited by catch location and unrealistic Steve Smith-level expectations. Tate is a definite year-one starter in most situations; even on the Vikings, he'd likely play outside opposite Jordan Addison in the slot.
