I generally think like 20% should be the bare minimum for like any any number one receiver... he had a game against Buffalo where he had 10 targets, seven catches for 99 yards... Then he also uh in Atlanta um played 20% in the slot and again was hyper productive there too. 12 targets, eight catches, 130 yards and two touchdowns.

McMillan ranked 101st in slot rate last year, squarely in the X-receiver bucket with Courtland Sutton, Nico Collins, and DK Metcalf (102nd–104th). Harmon believes 20% should be the bare minimum for any number-one receiver and that McMillan belongs in the Drake London receiver family—a prospect who unlocked significant production by moving from X-only alignment to 30%+ slot usage. McMillan showed elite productivity in limited slot usage: 10 targets, 7 catches, 99 yards vs. Buffalo (20% slot); 12 targets, 8 catches, 130 yards, 2 TDs vs. Atlanta (20% slot). Harmon projects that increasing to 25–30% slot usage could unlock more favorable matchups, additional layup targets, and improved after-the-catch opportunities. McMillan has expressed desire to move around the formation more like JSN and Puka Nacua to increase touches and avoid coverage shutdown, stating "I need to get the football more I need to move around more." His on-ball snap alignment at 81% is high compared to JSN (66%), suggesting room to decrease alignment and increase motion-based usage. As a prospect he was over 80% in coverage success rate versus zone; his current 78% full-X rate is solid.
