Simpson's Achilles heel is pocket awareness and subsequent injury concerns. He was nearly oblivious to offensive linemen getting beat or edge blitzes early in his career; while he improved as a starter, his internal clock still runs too long and he trusts his OL too much, taking way too many sacks from behind while hanging in the pocket. By season's end, he was dealing with a messed-up shoulder, gastritis, and broken ribs, making him a broken corpse by the end of last season. NFL defenders he can't outrun like in college could leave him spending entire seasons on his back if his team doesn't have a good OL.
