Yahoo Sports NFL on Deshaun Watson

Watson in open QB competition; locker room suggests he's not the best option.

Watson is in an open quarterback competition with Shedeur Sanders and other options (Taylen Green, Dillon Gabriel) for the Browns' starting role. Head coach Todd Monken is drawing out the decision, evaluating command of the huddle, line-of-scrimmage operation, and understanding of concepts. Watson is described as a 'broken and ineffective quarterback whose last good season came in 2020,' suggesting significant decline from his peak. Locker room word indicates Watson may not be the best quarterback option on the roster currently.
