STACKED’s take
Rattler's 14th-ranked EPA as rookie starter outpaced peers; coaches credit toughness and mobility.
Rattler (Shough) earned strong marks from executives and offensive coaches in his Tiers debut after becoming the Saints' starter in Week 9 as a rookie. Over his nine starts, Rattler ranked 14th among 34 qualifying quarterbacks in EPA per pass play—far outpacing other first-year quarterbacks. Opposing coaches praised his toughness in letting deeper routes develop, his ability to progress through reads, and his mobility. One coach noted: "The combination of his toughness to hang in there and let the deeper routes develop, his ability to go through his reads and then his mobility was impressive. And it wasn't like he had a Ben Roethlisberger rookie season where he's able to just not screw it up. He was kind of carrying those guys." Tier 4 votes came mostly from voters who had not faced him or seen limited tape across his nine starts.
