Samuel fills 49ers' No. 2 WR role with versatility as runner and receiver.

Samuel slots into the No. 2 wide receiver role for San Francisco after returning on a one-year deal from Washington; his versatility as both a runner and receiver will be key, though the rushing element wasn't tapped into much last year in Washington and it's unclear how much of a role he'll see there for the 49ers; he is being used as a kick returner, adding to his versatility.
