There is optimism he will be ready for Week 1, but the missed time puts him behind the eight ball in his competition with Mason Taylor. Sadiq's setback will set him back from having a true opportunity to ascend the depth chart. New York drafted him for a role as a pass-catching tight end who comes off the field when a blocker/receiver option is needed. His absence helps Mason Taylor solidify the number one job, and quarterback Geno Smith singling out Jelani Woods as a player who has stood out will not make Sadiq's path to early season snaps any easier. There should be enough 12 and 13 personnel usage for Sadiq to still be roster-worthy in redraft, but Taylor is now the preferred target late in drafts.
