NBC Sports Rotoworld on Omar Cooper Jr.

Cooper benched for Williams with first team; late-season play despite rookie pedigree.

Cooper did not see a snap with the first-team offense, which was led by Cade Klubnik in the preseason contest. Isaiah Williams played over him. He came in with the reserves and played throughout the first half. The last time a first-round rookie of any non-QB skill position was on the field that late into a preseason game was Treylon Burks in 2022. However, the source notes this isn't a death sentence for Cooper, as DJ Moore also played deep into multiple preseason games as a rookie and posted strong numbers in his debut campaign. For now, the source says Cooper Jr. is a late-season play.
