McKitty was a highly touted college recruit at Georgia, boasting the size and athletic attributes typically associated with productive pass-catching tight ends in the pros. Despite the lack of production with the Bulldogs, the physical profile was enough for the Los Angeles Chargers to take him at No. 97 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. McKitty gets Commanders lifeline after disappointing career arc.

McKitty, a highly tooted college recruit at Georgia with size and athletic attributes typically associated with productive pass-catching tight ends, was drafted by the Chargers at No. 97 overall in 2021 but hasn't produced as expected. He's been released by multiple teams (Chargers, Bills, Browns, Texans) and has now been given a lifeline by the Commanders. Whether it can become anything more is debatable.
