Bigsby did everything asked of him after being traded for 5th- and 6th-round picks in early September. He clearly operated as Saquon Barkley's direct backup, well ahead of incumbent Will Shipley, who is best served on passing downs. Bigsby was the RB1 overall in EPA per carry, RB2 in yards per carry, and RB6 in success rate among 60 qualifying RBs last season. All were better than Barkley for what it's worth. Of course, Barkley isn't losing his job to Bigsby straight up. This is a pure handcuff play, but Bigsby is one of the best pure cuffs. Many of the backup RBs to the consensus top-12 fantasy RBs are without a clearly-defined backup (Jonathan Taylor, Christian McCaffrey, Ken Walker, De'Von Achane, Chase Brown, etc), and then the other backups (Raiders, Cardinals, Falcons, etc.) are in just worse situations. Bigsby is a tier above in both categories, plus has some proof of concept that he might actually have NFL talent. Bigsby is the type of pick that looks genius 1-in-5 years, making him worthy of a last-round selection in all 10- and 12-team redraft leagues. He'd be a top-20 RB if Barkley misses time.
