Penix nearing clearance from knee injury; QB competition with Tagovailoa looms.

Penix is competing with Tua Tagovailoa for the Falcons' starting QB job but has not yet received full clearance as he completes the final stages of rehab from a season-ending knee injury and surgery. Coach Kevin Stefanski indicated Penix could get the green light for team drills at this week's minicamp, which would trigger a true competition. In his first season as Atlanta's starter, Penix completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 1,982 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions in nine games.
